Carrefour Opens 68th Hypermarket In China

French retailer giant Carrefour has opened its 68th hypermarket on the Chinese mainland in Xi'an, capital of northwest China's Shaanxi Province.

The new outlet has an area of more than 7,300 square meters with large supermarkets, franchise shops and centers of recreation,catering and entertainment.

It deals with about 28,000 kinds of commodities including grocery, fresh seafood, general merchandise and household electric appliances.

Carrefour, founded in 1959, is the largest retailer in Europe and the second largest in the world.

Carrefour plans to open its second hypermarket in Xi'an next year, which has been approved by the local government, sources with the Shaanxi provincial committee of commerce and trade said.
