IKEA Opens New Beijing Store

After four years of preparation, IKEA's new furniture store in Beijing's Siyuan Qiao area has formally opened to customers this week.

The Beijing outlet is the second largest store for IKEA in the world.

The new IKEA store covers an area of 4300 sq meters and is about three times larger than the former store in Madian. The Beijing Madian store is now closed.

Ji Li'an, the manager of the new store, says that this new store has involved an investment of US$100 million. It has included many new features including an expanded children's play area. There are also 1200 parking spaces and a dining hall that can hold 700 people.

IKEA plans to settle in ten cities in China in the next few years. And within the next six years, it will set up about ten IKEA stores in China.
