Benefited from the government's capital and policy support, many convenience store businesses in downtown Beijing have now begun to expand to the suburbs of the city.

About 600 chain supermarkets and convenience stores will be opened in the outskirts of Beijing by the end of 2006.

Of those, Jingkelong has taken over eight stores from Fulande in Tongzhou District and has begun to transform these stores that are located in the mature communities of Tongzhou, showing the change of focus of the company to the suburbs.

Jingkelong has already opened more than 160 supermarkets or convenience stores in 11 districts and counties of Beijing.
