Wal-Mart Opens First Stores In Wuxi, Chengdu

Wal-Mart opened its first stores, respectively, in Wuxi, Jiangsu Province and Chengdu, Sichuan Province this past week.

The Wal-Mart Hongxing Road Store in Wuxi is located on the Sunshine City Square on Hongxing Road. This new Wal-Mart Supercenter has a floor area of about 20,000 square meters and has special service areas featuring optical and jewelry services.

The Chengdu store is named the Wal-Mart Supercenter Jiaoda Road Store. Leaders from Chengdu municipal government attended the opening ceremony. Attendees from Wal-Mart included Joe Hatfield, Senior Vice President of Wal-Mart Stores, Inc. and President and CEO of Wal-Mart Asia; and Stanley Yu, COO of Wal-Mart (China) Investment Co., Ltd.
