Carrefour Opens Its 1000th Global Supermarket

International retail giant Carrefour has opened its 1000th worldwide store on the outskirts of Beijing in Tongzhou.

With a business area of 8000 sqm, the Carrefour Tongzhou store provides over 30000 kinds of goods and is estimated to be able to serve 20000 customers each day.

Shi Rongle, president of Carrefour China, says that this new store is the seventh store of Carrefour in Beijing, the 84th in China and 1000th in the world. He says that Carrefour will keep expanding its business in the second and third-tier cities in China and support the economic development of western China.

Qin Hong, director of the Carrefour Tongzhou store, says that 95% of the staff in this store comes from Tongzhou. They will serve local citizens after being trained.

Carrefour, founded in 1959, is the largest retailer in Europe and the second largest in the world. It has more than 10000 retail stores in over 30 countries all over the world. Carrefour opened its first Chinese store in 1995.
