Budget Hotel Brands Flock To Foshan

Following the opening of OCT Group's City Inn in Shunde and its plan to enter Foshan, other budget hotel brands including 7 Days Inn Group and Home Inn are also seeking to enter Foshan in Guangdong Province.

The first 7 Days Inn will be opened in the middle of this month, and a second one located on Zumiao Road will be open to the public in 2007.

Home Inn also plans to expand in southern China, and with RMB300 million earmarked for development, it is busy looking for appropriate partners in Foshan and Shunde. Home Inn plans to have 40 hotels in southern China before 2008.

There are thousands of budget hotels in big cities such as Guangzhou, Shanghai and Beijing, while in Foshan, the budget hotels are just appearing. Experts quoted in local media say that the low price of budget hotels may bring a new round of competition among local mid-tier hotels.
