B&Q Opens Its Third Store In Chongqing

The world's third largest home furnishing retailer B&Q has opened its third store in Chongqing in southwest China.

Located at Longhu, the new store is the second B&Q store in the Jingbei District. It is only 50 meters away from another furnishings and building material retailer, Macalline of Red Star. Referring to the severe competition that may arise between B&Q and Macalline, Ma Lisi, the new president of B&Q China, has told local media that competition can help increase their competing power.

Although B&Q has begun to focus on offering products of high quality, rather than at low prices to attract customers, the low price products and other sales promotion activities it offered on the first day of opening attracted more than 10000 customers, a new record in the home furnishing market in Chongqing.

B&Q has been operating in China since 1999 and currently has more than 15 stores in cities such as Shanghai, Shenzhen, Guangzhou and Beijing. It operates from large warehouses which cater for the needs of both home owners wishing to improve and decorate their homes, as well as trade and professional customers.
