The Information Center of the China National Tourism Administration and China UnionPay have called on all tourism units across the country to task themselves with building better financial services in an effort to develop non-cash payment methods and to create a safe and efficient payment environment for tourists from both home and abroad.

Xinhua reports the parties will choose some 5A and 4A scenic spots as well as some featured shopping streets and travel routes to offer barrier-free payment service on a trial basis and make all main businesses like travel agents and travel retailers inside star-grade hotels accept bank card payments.

Practices of previous Olympic Games hosting countries show that safe and convenient bank card payment is significant for digging into consumers' consumption potential, advancing consumption credit and guaranteeing fund safety.
