China's Retail Sales Of Consumer Goods Reaches New Heights

The National Bureau of Statistics of China says total retail sales of consumer goods reached RMB711.7 billion, a year-on-year increase of 17.1 percent, in August.

In terms of different regions, the retail sales of consumer goods in urban areas was RMB485.5 billion, rose by 17.6 percent over the same period of the previous year; that of retail sales at and below the county level achieved RMB226.1 billion, up by 16.1 percent.

In terms of different industries, the retail sales of wholesale and retail trades was RMB597.3 billion, a year-on-year increase of 17.2 percent; that of lodging and catering services was RMB98.5 billion, up by 19.1 percent; that of other industries was RMB15.8 billion, up by 3.9 percent.

From January to August, the accumulated total retail sales of consumer goods reached RMB5.6 trillion, a year-on-year increase of 15.7 percent.
