Trust-Mart Opens New Supermarket In Sichuan

Trust-Mart has recently opened its second store in Mianyang, Sichuan Province — the first new large-scale supermarket to be opened in Sichuan Province following the May 12 earthquake.

Long Weida, COO of Trust-Mart China, said that after the earthquake, the company had speeded-up the opening of its second Mianyang store. It spent only 20 days in making preparations for the store after it received approval from the relevant government department.

According to a representative from the Sichuan Provincial Department of Commerce, Trust-Mart's second store in Mianyang is the first newly opened large comprehensive supermarket to open in Sichuan since the earthquake and it will help to ensure the supply of goods, and also play an important role in stabilizing the prices of commodities.

At the opening ceremony of the store, Wal-Mark and Trust-Mart donated CNY5 million to the Sichuan Foundation for Poverty Alleviation to set up 50 village clinics in areas which were seriously affected by the earthquake, including Jiangyou, Pingwu, Anxian, Beichuan, Chengdu, and Heishui.
