Retail Sales Of China's Top 100 Chain Stores Exceed CNY1 Trillion

According to the China Chain Store Annual Report 2007 released by the China Chain Store & Franchise Association, retail sales of China's top 100 chain stores exceed CNY1 trillion in 2007.

The report shows that the total sales of these chain stores were CNY1.0022 trillion, a year-on-year increase of 21%. The number of stores operated by the top 100 chain store companies was 105,191, a year-on-year increase of 58%.

The report also shows that the average store area of large-scale supermarkets was about 9,500 square meters and the average annual revenue of these stores was CNY225 million, an increase of 8.17%. The average store area of all the supermarkets surveyed was 2,900 square meters and the average annual revenue was CNY71.69 million, an increase of 4.6%. For department stores, average sales increased by 14% and the business area increased by 3%.

For convenience stores, the average daily sales was CNY9,500.
