Chinese Instant Food Company Taps Online Direct Sales

One of the largest instant bean noodles companies in China, Sichuan Baijia Food Company, has announced plans to enter China's online direct sales sector from the end of March 2009.

Sheng Jiawu, the executive vice president of Baijia, said that Baijia plans to invest between CNY2 million and CNY3 million to create China's first online food direct sales system within the next two years. As a first step, Baijia will set up an online flagship store as well as cooperating with major Chinese Internet shopping platforms such as Taobao.com, Eachnet.com, Youa.baidu.com, and Dangdang.com to launch Baijia's direct sales supermarket and establish its online retail chain system.

At present, the entire online direct sales system of Baijia is under construction and it is expected to open at the end of March, 2009. By then, all of the company's 130 products will be available from the online supermarket.
