Carrefour China Implements Major Executive Moves

According to a report in the National Business Daily, Carrefour's South China and East China areas will undergo a new round of changes in the executive team from June 1, 2009.

The report revealed that Patrick Ganaye, the president for Carrefour's East China area, will be transferred to Taiwan; Pierre Bertholat, the president for Carrefour's South China area, will be transferred to the East China area to take charge of the local business; Stephane Deutsch, financial director for Carrefour, will become president for South China; and Patrice Moulin, Carrefour China's director for development, will replace Deutsch as financial director.

The news has been confirmed by Chen Bo, Carrefour China's director for public relations. Chen added that these changes are Carrefour's measures to promote outstanding senior executives and will not affect the company's investment strategy in China.

According to Carrefour's financial report for the first quarter of 2009, its revenue decreased to EUR22.7 billion from EUR23.3 billion in the same period of 2008, a year-on-year decrease of 2.8%. During the same period, the company's sales in China increased by 3.1%.
