Wal-Mart To Open Model Store In Baotou

Retail giant Wal-Mart has announced that it will open a model supermarket in Qingshan District, Baotou.

According to a press conference held at Baotou Shidai Caifu City, work on the Wal-Mart store will start at the end of this year and is expected to open in June 2010. With a business area of 15,000 square meters, the store will be the retailer's first model store in the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region.

Jointly invested in and developed by Qiaocheng Group and Oriental Great Achievement (China) Holdings, construction of Baotou Shidai Caifu City started in April 2008. With 34 floors, including two underground, the building will be completed at the end of 2009 and will start operation at the end of 2010. On its completion, the building will be able to accommodate over 1,000 venders with total business areas of more than 70,000 square meters.
