Qianmen Street Stores Reopen In Beijing

Chongwen district in Beijing has announced that, following renovation, Qianmen street will re-open at 11:08 on September 28, 2009, and the 103 stores along the street will all be open for business.

According to reports in local media, the restoration of this street was basically completed in April 2008 and it was opened to the public on August 7, 2008, one day before the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games.

With the opening of the Swedish apparel brand H&M's first outlet in Beijing, Qianmen street started to welcome international brands. At present, the restoration of buildings along both sides of the street has been completed and 103 stores will open in this area. Of these stores, 81 are Chinese brands, accounting for 79% of the total stores, and the remaining 22 are international brands, accounting for 21%.

So far, over 60 out of these 103 stores have opened for business and the rest will open by September 28.
