Wirtgen China Awarded CNY20 Million Contract For Hamm Compactors

Beijing, China (August 18, 2010) /ChinaNewswire.com/ — China International Water and Electric Corp. has awarded Wirtgen China a contract, worth CNY 20 million, for 24 Hamm Single Drum Compactors to be used on the construction of the dam complex at Upper Atbara in Sudan.

The dam complex project is located in eastern Sudan and has a total contract value of USD838 million. The project is financed by the government of the Sudan, and the engineering and construction of the complex is scheduled to last about 6 years. This is the largest single project contracted to Chinese companies in Sudan at the moment.

The project is composed of two dams. The main functions of which are irrigation, water supply, and power generation. After completion of the project, the dam complex will form a reservoir storage capacity of about 3 billion cubic meters. It will irrigate an area of about 500,000 hectares, and 7 million people will benefit from the irrigation. It will also provide drinking water for 3 million people. Its power generation capacity will supply 1 million people.

The contract is for the following equipment: Nine units of Hamm compactor type 3520 with an operating weight of 20 tons; nine units of Hamm compactor type 3520 P (Padfood shells) with an operating weight of 20 tons; and six units of Hamm compactor type 3412 with an operating weight of 12 tons.
