China's Anta Net Profit Down 17% In H1 2012

Chinese sportswear company Anta has published its semi-annual performance report ended June 30, 2012, stating that its operating revenue decreased by 11.6% year-on-year to CNY3.93 billion.

At the same time, its gross margin decreased by one percentage point to 41.8%; and its profit attributable to shareholders decreased by 17% to CNY769.6 million. However, its free cash flow increased by 37.8% year-on-year to CNY827.1 million.

By product category, Anta's operating revenue from shoes products decreased by 12.3% to CNY1.937 billion, accounting for 9.2% of its total revenue; its operating revenue from clothing products decreased by 10.6% to CNY1.86 billion, accounting for 47.3% of total revenue; and its operating revenue from accessories decreased by 15.9% to CNY137.8 million, accounting for 3.5% of total revenue.

By June 30, 2012, Anta had opened 7,807 retail stores with total sales area of 966,000 square meters. Of these stores, 689 are sports and life series stores and 691 are children's sports supplies stores.
