COFCO, the major shareholder of the Chinese dairy company Mengniu, has announced that Mengniu's manufacturing base in the southwestern area of China has been completed and put into production.

Chinese dairy company Mengniu has published a report stating that COFCO and Hopu Investment Management will buy a 20.3% stake in Mengniu at the price of HKD17.6 per share, for a total of about HKD6.1 billion.

According to COFCO, the restructuring of its newly acquired instant noodle company Wugudaochang is basically completed and its Beijing plant is expected to resume production in August 2009.

Beverage company Coca Cola has announced the opening of its 37th bottling plant in China.

Chinese food conglomerate COFCO has formally taken over the Chinese instant noodle maker Wugudaochang, which previously applied for bankruptcy protection.

Aeon Co.,Ltd., a wholly-owned subsidiary of Aeon in China, has signed a contract with Beijing Hongtai Jiye Real Estate Development Co., Ltd., a subsidiary of COFCO, to open a Jusco supermarket in Chaoyang Grand Joy City, Beijing.
