Chinese supermarket retail chain operator Lianhua Supermarket Holdings Company Limited announced plans to invest over CNY800 million to build a large modern logistics system in Jiading, Shanghai.

Chinese supermarket operator Lianhua has formed a partnership with Japan's Growell Group and Shanghai-based Meiribuy to create a three-way cosmeceutical joint venture.

Chinese supermarket and convenience store operator Lianhua has published its semi-annual financial report for the first half of 2010, stating that its net profit increased by 22.8% year-on-year to CNY326 million and its profit per share was CNY0.52.

According to Chinese online shopping platform Taobao.com, the company is currently deploying offline retail kiosks and payment points across China to complement the over 4,000 locations it has already opened in Beijing in such supermarkets and convenience stores as Vanguard, Lianhua and Hi-24.

According to the interim results from Lianhua Supermarket Holdings Co, Ltd., the company made net profits of CNY227 million in the first half of 2008, a year-on-year increase of 61.81%.

The British retail giant Tesco has set up a purchase center for Asian areas in Shanghai.
