China Mobile will officially launch its mobile phone application online store in mid-August 2009 to encourage development and downloads of mobile phone software in China.

According to Chinese online shopping platform Taobao.com, the company is currently deploying offline retail kiosks and payment points across China to complement the over 4,000 locations it has already opened in Beijing in such supermarkets and convenience stores as Vanguard, Lianhua and Hi-24.

Retail giant Wal-Mart has announced plans to adopt radio frequency identification for products supplied by its Chinese suppliers from January 2009.

Dockers San Francisco, a U.S. leisure wear brand, has opened a specialty store in Joy City, Beijing. This is also the brand's first specialty store in China.
