Jiffy Lube Opens First Shanghai Store

Jiffy Lube, a chain of fast lube and oil change centers in the US, has opened in Shanghai.

At the beginning of 2005, Shell joined forces with Shanghai Automotive Industry Sales Corporation (SAISC), a subsidiary of Shanghai Automotive Industry Corporation (SAIC), to set up Anji Jiffy Lube Automotive Service Co., Ltd., and Shell China Holdings BV and Shell (China) Ltd. respectively hold 40% and 10% stakes in it.

The joint venture just opened its first store in Shanghai and plans to set up ten fast lube and oil change stores in Shanghai before the end of 2006 and expects to have 500 to 600 outlets around China by 2015.

At present, the company is padding up its presence in China by opening chain stores and will likely to grant franchise licenses later.

Jiffy Lube is a wholly owned subsidiary of Royal Dutch Shell Group established in 1979 and now it has over 2,200 outlets in the US and Canada.
