Based on a survey report made by China Chain Store & Franchise Association, China had 2320 franchise systems by the end of 2005. This is 10.4% more than a year ago.
And there were 168,000 franchised outlets, 40% more than the 120,000 by the end of 2004.
The average number of outlets for a single franchse system increased from 57 in 2004 to 73 in 2005.
Statistics also show 49% of franchises were retail businesses, 16 percentage points up on the previous year.
