France-based Auchan will send a delegation at the beginning of next month to Shaoxing in Zhejiang Province to investigate the market there before it opening a new store.
Auchan has more than 300 hypermarkets, 600 supermarkets and over 600 shops across the world, including 12 stores in China.
Auchan has told local media that is has been planning a store in Shaoxing since 2002. Since it always purchases real estate and builds the stores itself, it needs to send staff to investigate the best opportunities in the three key areas of Paojiang Industrial Zone, Didang New Town and Ke Bridge.
Each of these three areas are growth centers in and around Shaoxing.
