Chinese Hotpot Chain Goes To Japan

Inner Mongolia Little Sheep Chain Restaurant, a Chinese hotpot restuarant chain, has decided to take the first step in establishing a presence in Japan by setting up a joint venture in Tokyo.

The new company, Little Sheep Japan, is looking to open its first store in Tokyo by summer.

The company operates one of the largest restaurant chains in China with about 700 stores around the country and six overseas.

Japanese company WebCrew will orchestrate Little Sheep’s brand building efforts in Japan.

The Chinese company has provided about 60% of the about 100 million yen capital for the joint venture, which will open three stores in the Tokyo metropolitan area in its first year before expanding the chain through a franchise system.
