Thirteen of the 82 McDonald's in Shanghai have been changed into in 24-hour restaurants.
These 13 McDonald's are mainly located in downtown areas such as Xujiahui, Shanghai Railway Station, Nanjing Road and Huaihai Road. The food and beverage they offer at night will be the same as that in the daytime in both category and price.
McDonald's says it will decide whether to make all its restaurants in the city run all day and night according to the dining situation around each of the restaurants at night.
Analysts quoted in local media say that McDonald's 24-hour operation pattern will help promote the development of night food and beverage market in Shanghai.
KFC, a big competitor of McDonald's in China, has not disclosed any plan of adopting the 24-hour operation.
