Wal-Mart Shenzhen International Trust & Investment Company has formally set up a labor union in Quanzhou.
This is the first labor union for Wal-Mart since it entered China in 1995.
With thirty initial members, the establishment of this labor union is expected to promote the establishment of other labor unions at Wal-Mart and other foreign enterprises in China.
Ke Yunlong, chairman of the Wal-Mart Labor Union, says the union will organize activities for employees and help them handle labor-related affairs in order to achieve mutual benefits for both the company and employees.
Wal-Mart has opened 59 shopping centers in 17 cities in China and has over 30000 Chinese employees.
