Sang Yu Wei Xia, the first special retail store targeting senior citizens, will be formally opened in Chengdu today.
This appliance store for the elderly in Chengdu is invested in by Sangyuweixia Investment Management Company from Xiamen, which mainly deals in sales, management and planning of daily necessities for the elderly. This special store will provide all kinds of products including crutches, equipment for physical therapy, timed medicine boxes, and hearing aids.
Statistics show there are about 15 million elderly people in the Chengdu area in 2005, which means that there is big potential for the market.
Local media reports that the demand for the elderly market was RMB600 billion in 2005, and this will reach RMB1000 billion by 2010.
