The Wharf Builds Outlets Shopping Mall In Chengdu

The Wharf (Holdings) Limited says it will invest RMB2 billion to build an outlets shopping mall in Chengdu, which will be the first of its kind in western China.

Chengdu Outlets Shopping Mall will cover 543 mu in area and it will be home to well-known clothing brands from both home and abroad, including more than 20 international luxury clothing brands. It is scheduled to open right before the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games when the consumers there can buy luxury clothing for as low as as 90% off.

Located in Shuangliu Trade Zone of Shuangnan Avenue in Chengdu, Chengdu Outlets Shopping Mall is positioned by The Wharf as an international brand direct selling shoping mall. It will be constructed by Longchang Comprehensive Department (Chengdu) Co, Ltd., a member institution of The Wharf. The first phase of the construction will be started at the end of this year.

It is expected that the monthly sales of the outlets will reach RMB70 million-RMB80 million in three years.
