Sichuan Restaurant Company Eyes Budget Hotel Market

Chengdu's budget hotel market will soon welcome a new competitor with the famed local dining company Baguo Buyi's entry into the field.

Baguo Buyi's first hotel, which is to be called Buyi Inn, is expected to open at the end of August and it will feature traditional Chinese style with a total of 108 rooms. The company plans to expand to 30-50 franchised hotels by 2008.

Li Hao, who is responsible for Baguo Buyi's hotel project, says that Buyi Inn will be positioned as an up-market business hotel, similar to that of a four-star hotel, but they will also have two budget hotel brands named Buyi Express and Buyi Resort. Li believes that Baguo Buyi's success in the restaurant field will be a great asset for them to run the new hotels.

Currently, Chengdu's budget hotel market has been divided by outsiders like Jinjiang Inn, Home Inn, Super 8 and Ibis. Baguo Buyi is one of the first local brands.
