The Sichuan Star-grade Hotel Assessment Commission has recently published a draft standard on the categorization and assessment of themed travel hotels, which is the first of its kind in China.
The new standard, "Sichuan Provincial Themed Travel Hotel Division and Assessment Standard", describes the five types of theme hotel construction, maintenance and operation. Sichuan Provincial Tourism Bureau says it will organize a training course on the implementation of the new standard across the province this year and encourage hotels that have the right conditions to initiate construction of themed hotels.
At present, there are more than 50 themed hotels across China and 10 of them are located in Sichuan. However, the service quality and service level of these hotels vary due to the lack of an industry standard.
