Total Retail Sales In China Up for Consumer Goods

From January to September, the total retail sales of consumer goods reached RMB6.3 trillion, a year-on-year increase of 15.9 percent.

In terms of different regions, the retail sales of consumer goods in urban areas rose by 16.3 percent over the same period of the previous year. Retail sales at and below the county level was up by 14.9 percent.

In terms of different industries, the retail sales of wholesale and retail trades was RMB5.3 trillion, a year-on-year increase of 15.8 percent. Lodging and catering services was RMB886 billion, up by 18.2 percent.

In terms of different commodity categories, the retail sales above designated size of wholesale and retail trades, divided by foodstuff, clothing and utilized commodities increased 25.5, 24.7 and 25.8 percent respectively. Of those figures, the retail sales for grain and oil was up by 37.0 percent; that of meat, poultry and eggs was up by 40.5 percent; that of garment, shoes, hats and textiles was up by 24.7 percent; and that of cultural and offices appliances rose by 21.0 percent.
