According to the information from the Beijing Development and Reform Commission, the proportion of Beijing's service industry among other sectors has risen to 71%, the average level of developed countries and 30 percentage points higher than the national average level.
Liang Changxin, a member of the Beijing Development and Reform Commission says from January to September last year, the added value of Beijing's service industry reached RMB460.29 billion, increasing 12.7% comparing with the same period last year. The service industry contributed to 71.4% of Beijing's economic development.
Liang says in 2007 the proportion of seven service industries, which were finance industry, information service industry, wholesale/retail industry, technology service industry, business service industry, transportation industry and real estate industry, was over 5% of the total national economy.
