Guangzhou: Consumer Goods Reached RMB74.572 Billion In Q1 2008

According to statistics released by the Bureau of Statistics of Guangzhou, in the first quarter of 2008, the consumer goods market of Guangzhou had total retail sales of RMB74.572 million, which increased by 16.1% over last year and the increase rate was 2.7 percentage points higher than the same period of 2007.

In the first quarter of 2008, cities above the county level realized retail sales of RMB69.494 million, increasing by 16.0% and the increase rate was 2.6 percentage points higher than the same period last year; and the retail sales of counties and below county level was RMB5.078 million, increasing by 17.1% and the increase rate was 3.2 percentage points higher.

Accommodation, catering and wholesale and retail sectors attained rapid development in the first three months. The retail sales of accommodation and catering reached RMB12.257 million, increasing by 19.9% and the increase rate was 9.7 percentage points higher than the same period last year; and the retail sales of wholesale and retail reached RMB62.315 million, increasing by 15.4% and the increase rate was 1.3 percentage points higher.
