Anta Plans To Open 600 New Shops In 2008

According to Lai Shixian, COO of Anta Sports Products, the company plans to open 600 new shops in Mainland China and the total number of its shops will reach 5,300.

Hong Kong Economic Times reported that, in 2007, the recurrent net profit of Anta rose to CNY480 million, which was a rise of about 2.3 times year-on-year. The 608 newly opened shops in 2007 made a major contribution to the increase of its business volume.

Lai told local media that 600 new shops are not too many for this year and he denied that the company is over-optimistic about the positive effect that the Olympics may bring to the sale of sports products. He says that Anta sneakers topped the sales list in the industry with 1,830 pairs in 2007 and there is still huge potential for the development of the market.

Apart from the production and sale of sneakers, Anta is actively developing its apparel sector and the company plans to launch children’s products in 2008. In addition, the acquisition of high-end international brands is also included in the company's development plan – the acquisition value will be less than USD40 million.
