China's Retail Sales Up 15.8% In November 2009

China's National Bureau of Statistics has published its major economic indices for November 2009 showing that the country's retail sales of the country rapidly during the month.

According to the statistics, China's total retail sales in November 2009 increased by 15.8% year-on-year to CNY1.134 trillion although the growth rate was five percentage points lower in than the same period in the previous year.

By region, China's urban retail sales in November were CNY760.6 billion, a year-on-year increase of 16.5%; while its rural retail sales were CNY373.3 billion, a year-on-year increase of 14.4%.

By industry, retail sales of wholesale and retail industries were CNY957.3 billion, a year-on-year increase of 16.4%; retail sales of hotel and catering industries were CNY157.5 billion, a year-on-year increase of 14.4%; and retail sales of other industries were CNY19.1 billion, a year-on-year increase of 1.6%.

In addition, from January to November 2009, China's total retail sales reached CNY11.273 trillion, a year-on-year increase of 15.3%, but the growth rate was 6.6 percentage points lower than the same period of last year.
