Chinese E-commerce Company Invests In Cloud Computing Services

Chinese B2C e-commerce website 360buy.com held the opening ceremony for its Haidian cloud computing research and development base in Yiyuan Cultural and Creative Industrial Zone, Beijing.

Zhao Guoqing, vice chairman and chief strategy officer of 360buy.com, said during the ceremony that in Fortune 500 companies in the United States and Britain, above 90% of important investments and operating decisions are decided by in-depth data analysis and support. During the expansion of 360buy.com, the company must adopt scientific methods to handle the diversified Internet shopping demands and consumer activities of users. Cloud computing is one way to help power and support these business needs.

The company's new cloud computing R&D center and the e-commerce lab jointly established with Renmin University of China cover total office areas of 9,940 square meters, which can accommodate up to 1,500 employees. The cloud computing R&D center will reportedly provide strong support to the e-commerce cloud services at 360buy.com; while the e-commerce lab, based on the research advantages at Renmin University and the e-commerce data from 360buy.com, will promote the construction of a large data platform service.

360buy.com claims to currently hold the consumer data of over 80 million Chinese users as well as sales data of nearly ten million kinds of products. In addition, its data group covers the entire e-commerce process, including logistics, warehousing, distribution, after-sales service, and reverse logistics.
