Japanese apparel retailer Uniqlo announced plans to open its largest flagship store worldwide in Shanghai by the end of 2013.

The new store will be located in Huaihai Road, a business area in Shanghai. Since Uniqlo's entry into China in 2002, the Japanese retailer had distributed 189 stores in China by the end of March 2013.

At present, the company's largest flagship store is in Tokyo, with an area of 4,959 square meters. In addition, Uniqlo plans to open its 17th outlet in Hong Kong in April 2013, adding a 3,500-square-meter operating area.
