Aldi To Open First Two Stores In China On June 7

According to reports in Chinese local media, Aldi will formally open its first two Chinese stores in Shanghai on June 7, 2019.

The two stores will be reportedly located in Jing'an and Gumei commercial areas.

It is said that due to trademark registration reason, Aldi's Chinese brand name will be "Ao Le Qi".

Aldi is the largest chain discount retailer in Germany and it is one of the largest retailers in Europe, with annual sales of over USD80 billion. On Deloitte's global retail power list, Aldi is ranked the eighth. Meanwhile, Aldi owns 6.8% market share in the British supermarket retailing sector, making it the fifth largest supermarket chain in this marketplace.

As a top 500 retail enterprise in the world, Aldi has more than 10,000 stores around the globe. The company entered the Chinese market via an overseas flagship store on Tmall.hk in 2017 and it opened a flagship store on Tmall.com at the beginning of 2018.
