Starbucks To Build Coffee Roasting Factory In Kunshan

Starbucks announced that the company would invest CNY900 million to build a "coffee innovation industrial park" in Kunshan, Jiangsu Province.

It is said that Starbucks China coffee innovation industrial park will have a planned area of about 80,000 square meters. It will integrate coffee roasting and intelligent warehousing logistics. In this industrial park, Starbucks' fully-invested coffee roasting factory will start construction in the second half of 2020 and it is expected to complete and put into production in the summer of 2022.

At present, Starbucks has six coffee roasting factories around the world, including five in the United States and one in Netherlands. The new coffee roasting factory in Kunshan will be the company's first in Asia Pacific.

Starbucks said that they aimed to establish China as an important node of Starbucks' global coffee roasting network. The company will promote the intelligent sustainable production of Chinese coffee, create more jobs, and further enhance the company's long-term commitment of improving China's fine coffee industry.

Starbucks also pointed out that its Chinese coffee innovation industrial park aimed to become the first full industrial chain coffee innovation industrial base within the industry. In the future, it will cover coffee bean import and export, roasting, packing, storage, logistics delivery, distribution, and coffee roasting related training.
