American Fried Chicken Brand Popeyes Entered China

American fried chicken brand Popeyes recently opened a 470-square-meter restaurant in Shanghai, which is the brand's first store in mainland China.

Established in 1972, Popeyes is known for its fried chicken, seafood and Louisiana-style specialties. So far, Popeyes has developed into one of the world's leading fried chicken fast food brands and it has more than 3,100 restaurants in the United States and across the world.

Popeyes belongs to Restaurant Brands International, which is also the owner of the fast food chain Burger King and Canadian coffee chain Tim Hortons. So far, Burger King has over 1,100 restaurants in China and Tim Hortons has nearly 30 stores in the Chinese market since its entry in 2019.

It is said that Popeyes plans to open 1,500 restaurants in China and its restaurants in Nanjing, Hangzhou, and Suzhou are undergoing preparation.
