Japanese Grocery Giant LOFT To Open Store In Shanghai

Japanese grocery brand LOFT recently announced the formal establishment of its Chinese headquarters in Jing'an District, Shanghai and the company will open its first overseas owned store in Xujiahui Metro City.

The new LOFT store in China will have a total area of 1,046 square meters and it provides over 30,000 items four major categories, covering stationery, general daily goods, health supplies and household goods.

In addition, LOFT will create an original grocery area for its first overseas owned store. In this area, its unique products are all from independent creators in China. At present, 18 Chinese original designing brands have entered the store, offering independent illustrations, hand-made accessories and cultural and creative groceries.

According to introduction on LOFT's official website, the brand was established in 1987 and it has 131 stores of various sizes in Japan. Unlike traditional department stores which depend on specialty counters of big brands, nearly 90% of products sold in LOFT are purchased by buyers via different selected channels.
