Galeries Lafayette To Open Third Chinese Store In Guiyang In 2022

French department store retailer Galeries Lafayette recently announced its latest plan to expand in China.

On October 22, 2020, Galeries Lafayette formally signed an agreement with HLC Commercial Estates Group in Guiyang to open a new Galeries Lafayette outlet at Guiyang's Dolphin Plaza owned by HLC.

This will be the first store opened by the high-end French department store in southwest China and its third opened in China. In 2013, Galeries Lafayette entered Beijing for the second time and opened its first Chinese store in Xidan. In October 2019, the retailer's second store opened in L+Mall, Lujiazui Center, Pudong, Shanghai.

The new store in Guiyang is divided into two floors, with an area of 11,500 square meters. The Dolphin Plaza shopping center is expected to partially open in 2021, and Galeries Lafayette is expected to open in the spring of 2022.

Public files show that Galeries Lafayette has a history of 120 years and currently operates 66 stores in the world, including 60 in France. The other six are located in Berlin, Casablanca, Jakarta, Dubai, Beijing and Shanghai.
