McDonald's China announced that its professional coffee brand McCafe would invest CNY2.5 billion in the next three years to accelerate its layout in the Chinese mainland coffee market.
It is expected that by 2023, there will be over 4,000 McCafe sites in China, providing high-quality and cost-effective handmade coffee.
McCafe will adopt the "light asset" model, and will not open independent stores. Instead, it will use the space of existing McDonald's restaurants to set independent coffee counters, and introduce professional coffee equipment.
In 2020, McCafe will first enter McDonald's restaurants in Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou and Shenzhen, and in 2021, it will fully enter seven major cities, including Nanjing, Hangzhou, Fuzhou, Xiamen, Tianjin, Chengdu and Suzhou.
McCafe will realize order and delivery via online and offline full channels, covering offline counter, mobile phone order, and delivery platform.
