Wal-Mart Opens Third Store In Chongqing

Following the opening of its second large-scale supermarket in Chongqing, retail giant Wal-Mart has now opened its third store there.

Locating in the Ranjiaba area of the city, Wal-Mart's 17000 sqm new store will provide more services for the convenience of customers besides the traditional free shuttle buses and delivery.

So far, 50 free shopping carts have been provided to customers in Longhu communities so that consumers in the community can push the shopping carts back to their homes and return them to the security personnel in the communities. Customers from other communities can also enjoy this service by first paying a deposit. What's more, the free delivery service will be extended to 2 kilometers from the current 1 kilometer.

Local media also report that the prices in Wal-Mart will fall 4% to 6% after the opening of this new store.

Wal-Mart now has 69 stores in China, 12 of which lie in Shenzhen. It has already opened two hypermarkets in Chongqing and plans to open more stores there in the coming years.
