Marks And Spencer Will Open Department Store In Shanghai

Marks and Spencer, a famous British retailer, will reportedly open its first mainland China department store in Shanghai this autumn.

Situated at the original location of Shanghai Hongxiang Department Store on the Nanjing West Road, the Shanghai Marks and Spencer Department Store will be a wholly-owned department store. With a construction area of 4,900 square meters, the four-floor department store is Marks and Spencer's biggest one in the Asian area.

Apart from opening the first mainland China department store, Marks and Spencer has announced intentions to open two more department stores in Hong Kong where it first set up its business 20 years ago and has eight department stores.

Founded in 1894, Marks and Spencer Department Store is a world renowned British retailer. The group has more than 75,000 employees and 275 department stores in 40 countries and regions around the world, including the 600 stores in Britain.
