China's Lianhua Supermarket Net Profit Up 22.8% In H1 2010

Chinese supermarket and convenience store operator Lianhua has published its semi-annual financial report for the first half of 2010, stating that its net profit increased by 22.8% year-on-year to CNY326 million and its profit per share was CNY0.52.

According to the report, the company achieved operating revenue of CNY13.009 billion during the first half of 2010, a year-on-year increase of 5.9%; and its sales at individual stores increased by 3.5%.

For costs, the company's total expenditure for sales and distribution was CNY2.359 billion, a year-on-year increase of 8.8%.

During the reporting period, Lianhua's gross profit increased by 13.8% to CNY1.753 billion and its gross margin reached 13.48%, which was 0.94 percentage point higher that the same period in 2009. Due to the increase of operating capacity and the integration of resources, the company's comprehensive income reached CNY3.094 billion, a year-on-year increase of 10.6%, and its comprehensive income rate increased by 1.01% to 23.78%.
