American cafe chain Starbucks has confirmed to the Chinese local media that it has increased the prices of coffee drinks sold in its chain stores on the Chinese mainland.

Starbucks Coffee Company has entered another five new Chinese cities: Langfang, Hebei; Zhengzhou, Henan; Harbin, Heilongjiang; Xiangtan, Hunan; and Zhoushan, Zhejiang.

Starbucks Corporation has recently completed high-level personnel adjustments for China and Asia Pacific regions, and Belinda Wong was appointed new president for Starbucks China.

Starbucks announced that it has signed an agreement with Hong Kong Maxim's Caterers Limited, Starbucks' joint venture partner in southern China, to gain a 100% stake in over half of Starbucks coffee shops in mainland China.

Taiwan-based cafe and bakery chain 85°C has formally entered Xiamen, Fujian province.
